We caught up with Louisa Knapp, winner of The Campaign for Wool Student Design Competition, to talk British design and the wonders of wool.
This month, The Campaign for Wool’s annual wool week revolved around the careability of wool. The highlight was a pop-up installation with two huge containers decked out with woolly fashion, furnishings and flooring, and fitted with 40 AEG washing machines showing how easy wool is to care for. We’re talking Wool Care with Steve Bakker of The Woolsafe Organisation, who’s telling us all about the spills and thrills of caring for wool.
Flooring is where wool excels. Let’s spin some of the benefits of wool carpets in the home. Practically speaking wool is resilient, stain resistant, flame-retardant, a natural insulator and as a soundproofer brings much welcomed peace and quiet to interiors.
Wool Week is always a whirlwind of activity! This year the Wool BnB gave us all a moment to be proud of! It was intended to be a truly creative space showcasing a colourful mix of the potential of wool to make a home comfortable, tactile and visually stimulating. The fabulous flooring in the living areas was provided by Alternative Flooring with Liberty Fabrics collection.
The wonderful thing about Wool Week is that every year there is always something a little ‘alternative’ about it!
