SummerTrends

Jump straight into summer.

How do we keep that sunshine feeling in our homes all summer long?

The fashion world tells us sunset hues are on the rise while interior designers have a new decorating watch - minimaluxe.

Colour Rules

Are you wondering about the golden rules for choosing colours as an interior designer? Many designers take inspiration from rugs to lead their palette, and there are certain rules to follow for complimentary colours and tonality.

Did you know that pink can act as a neutral and is super flattering?

Whether you're looking to set it as a neutral base carpets, or add it as an accents to complete your scheme, this hue is a versatile option.

A Bit of Blue

Blue has been a dominating interior trend for the past year or so and it shows no signs of slowing down. Designers love its versatility and mood-enhancing effects, which are inspired by nature.

Plus, it's a great colour for making small spaces feel larger.

Although trends come and go, blue remains a timeless choice.

Personality Rugs

Alternative Designer Rugs.

Summer floor decor just got more exciting with statement rugs making a big impression on shoppers. Our Alternative collaborator, Margo Selby, is now offering her delightful rug designs online.

The Virden Rug is a standout piece with its bold semaphore signal flag design featuring playful symmetry and asymmetry in desaturated primary colours like cornflower blue, vermillion red, amber, sage and zinc.

Perfectly suited for those who love maximalism in their space.

Checkmate

Checks are timeless. From classic windowpane and playful checkerboard to this year's pretty ginghams.

Our Woosie Check is beautifully created from sisal and wool fibres. Meet Jerry, a Woosie Check Wild Rug from the Everyday Favourites collection. This vibrant patterned wool rug jas an accent Cotton Crimson border edge.

Earthy Energy

Why not balance earthy with colourful.

Nature gives us the most beautiful colour schemes. Energetic hues bring natural looks to life.

The new rustic look is charcterised by organic elements like aged wood and tactile sisal is hot this summer. These materials create a relaxed welcoming vibe.

Summer Nights

We love tonal rooms, but shots of colour take interior schemes to the next level.

Soft sunset shading with gold, orange and pink is a romantic colour trend as we wave goodbye to cloudy days.

For this direction try graduating colours for the special ombre effect.

Tennis Whites

Summer days are perfect for white-on-white outfits and crisp white shirts.

Work this trend indoors with off-white rugs. Alternative's bespoke Plush Velvet rug in White Jasper makes a statement while linking to another direction for quieter luxury and minimaluxe, which is all about making your home calm and elevated.

Monochrome Magic

Black and white is classic and chic in the summer.

It is easy and effective as you can choose any pattern you like. Geometrics work this trend well.

Here's Quirky Button Black patterned carpet by Margo Selby. A stunning design whether it is as a fully fitted broadloom carpet or as a bespoke rug or carpet runner.
