At Alternative Flooring, we are firm believers that life is too short to live in dull spaces and one of the amazing things about our natural rugs range is their versatility. If you’ve got areas of heavy-duty footfall such as the hallway or doorway, we would recommend one of our more durable natural fibre rugs such as coir or sisal. If you’re looking for an eco-friendly option that’s soft underfoot, then our jute natural rugs would be perfect. All of our natural rug options are lasting, and sustainable with quality woven into every fibre.
Our Make Me A Rug designer lets you create your own bespoke, made to measure natural rug. Get creative and experiment with different flooring and border combinations online to create a completely personalised natural rug for your space.
If you’re looking for natural rug that you can sink your feet into, then a jute rug is perfect for you. Not only are our jute natural rugs available in fine and chunky weaves, but they’re also moth resistant. As an added bonus, jute may very well be the most eco-friendly natural plant fibre within our natural range.
Natural plant fibres don’t like to get wet and if you’re not careful, even spills like water can leave a mark. At Alternative Flooring, you have the option to add Intec, our environmentally friendly stain inhibitor, which will help to reduce the impact of stains and prolong the life of your floor covering. If you do end up with a spill on your natural fibre rug, then we would recommend using our WoolSafe approved Natural Flooring Care Kit.
One of the great things about the fibres used in natural rugs is the fact that they are all hardwearing and durable. So whether you decide on seagrass, sisal or coir, you’ll be creating a natural fibre rug ready for almost anything. Jute rugs tend to be softer, which doesn’t make them as suitable for high traffic areas, which is why from a durability perspective, we would recommend sisal, seagrass or coir.
Natural fibre rugs can be prone to moisture and mildew growth, plus they can be tricky to clean, even water may leave a permanant mark, therefore we wouldn’t recommend them for outside use. Instead, we would recommend a synthetic faux rug from our Anywhere collection which are made from 100% polypropylene, suitable for outdoor use and are extremely hardwearing.
